Peninsula Providore Farm is run by the Hollick and Wyett family in Currency Creek, on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. Here Mel Hollick and Brook Wyett are committed to producing as much of their produce as possible themselves, in a sustainable and ethical manner.
The original Currency Creek farm is traditionally a lucerne hay property, however, in 2015 they purchased the adjoining property which has 9000 established olive trees on it. Unfortunately, these trees had been left to languish for the best part of 10 years, so Mel and Brook, along with their family set about turning the grove around.
2018 saw the first commercial release of their Australian Extra Virgin Olive Oil (2017 vintage), with previous harvests being shared amongst family and friends.
We are extremely proud to have been awarded a Bronze Medal at the Fleurieu Olive Awards in 2017 for our Extra Virgin Olive Oil, showing that the hard work was paying off. In 2018, we added a Reserve Extra Virgin Olive Oil to the portfolio that was hand picked to try to get a more premium oil. Success was once again realised by receiving Silver medals at the Fleurieu Olive Awards 2018 and the Australian International Olive Awards. In late 2018, we also added a Dukkah to the range to help showcase our Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The recipe was developed by Mel after many trials and tastings, and today boasts 92% Australian ingredients as we try to source as many of the ingredients as possible locally.
We grow a lot of our own vegetables and fruit, and raise healthy and happy sheep, cattle and chooks. We hope to add further products to our range as we realise what is commercially viable and suited to our little slice of the Fleurieu Peninsula.
We would love to keep in touch as we add products to our range, so please join our mailing list, and follow us on social media for updates.
We hope you enjoy.
Cheers, Mel & Brook
